Sport Manitoba has announced the names of the 300 athletes, coaches and support staff that will comprise Team Manitoba for the 2015 Canada Winter Games, being held Feb. 13 to Mar. 1 at Prince George, B.C.

Although many of these names have previously been announced, Steinbach’s Kevin Barkman in badminton and Celine Caron in women’s hockey are the only local athletes that will be competing in the Games.

Other local individuals that will be participating in the Games include Steinbach Pistons assistant coach Rob Smith, who is also the assistant coach of the male hockey team; Grunthal’s Justin Friesen, badminton coach; and Caleigh Christie of Falcon Lake, manager of the female biathlon team.

Team Manitoba also announced the Manitoba flagbearers will be Keenan Brown from archery and Christian Higham from the women’s hockey team. Kaitlyn Lawes, Olympic gold medalist in curling, will be the Honourary captain of Team Manitoba.
