Xtreme take stranglehold on Huskies

The Springfield Xtreme defeated the Steinbach Huskies 6-2 Sunday at Oakbank to take a 3-0 stranglehold lead on the Huskies in their Hanover Tache Junior Hockey League semi-final series.

Springfield also defeated the Huskies in game two Friday at Oakbank and 5-0 in the opener Wednesday at Steinbach.

Riley Welsh and Matt Lamoureux were the driving force for the Xtreme in Sunday’s game as Welsh had three goals and two assists and Matt Lamoureux three goals and an assist. They each also had three points in their 6-2 victory on Friday.

Game four in the best of seven series will be played Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. at Steinbach.

Meanwhile, the other semi-final series is also a 3-0 affair with the Red River Mudbugs leading the St. Adolphe Hawks. The Mudbugs were 5-2 winners Saturday at St. Adolphe and won 3-2 Sunday afernoon at St. Jean.

Game four in the series will be played Tuesday at 8:15 p.m. at St. Adolphe.
