The Manitoba Badminton Association will be putting on a week-long badminton camp in Steinbach in August as part of a rural summer series of clinics being conducted across the province.

The camp wil be held August 18-22 at Steinbach Christian High School. To register for the camp go to http://badminton.mb.ca/page.aspx?id=18169.

The camp will focus on the basics and the clinic is for beginners or for those who have started to play competetively. Organizers are expecting most of the participants at the camp will likely be kids who want to try the sport or just want to improve and learn more about the game. A typical day will include warm-up, skill development, modified games, relay games and a final set of games or a mini-tournament.

Provincial badminton coach Justin Friesen says the goal is to help grow the sport in rural Manitoba. He says clinics are more readily available in Winnipeg and this will give interested players outside the city more of an opportunity to improve their skills in the sport. Clinics are also being held in Stonewall, Carman, Minnedosa, Souris and Flin Flon this summer.
