Bram named to Team Canada conditioning roster

Ste Anne’s Shelby Bram is one of 49 hockey players invited to Canada’s National Women’s Development Team strength and conditioning camp, being held May 7-11 at Hamilton, Ont.

Bram, a 21-year-old forward, just completed her third season of college hockey at Merceyhurst in Erie, Pennsylvania, where she finished fifth in team scoring with 35 points in 37 games this season.

This spring’s strenghth and conditioning camp marks the first National Women’s Program activity for the 2014-15 season, as well as the first step on the road to the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea.

“This camp is a key step on the road to continued Team Canda success during the 2014-15 season, but also as we start an exciting and intense four-year journey toward PyeongChang (South Korea),” said Melody Davidson, general manager of National Women’s Team Programs.”

Shelby Bram is the younger sister of Bailey Bram, who was also a standout at Mercyhurst and was the final cut, although she was a still an alternate for Canada’s gold medal winning women’s hockey team at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Russia.
