After three Carillon teams came home with medals from the Baseball Manitoba provincial championships the previous weekend, all four Carillon teams were shut out of the hardware at four ‘AA’ provincial championships being contested around the province this past weekend.

The only local teams to make it though to the playoffs was Landmark/Seine River at the Bantam AA tournament at Dauphin. Landmark/Seine River finished with a 2-2 round robin record, then lost 3-2 to North Winnipeg in the quarter-finals.

Blumenort posted a 2-2 round robin record at the Mosquito AA provincials at Winkler, but that record failed to get them out of pool play. It was a similar scenario for Vassar/Mitchell at the Pee Wee ‘AA’ championships at Altona as a 2-2 record was not good enough to make it into the playoff round.

And at the Midget ‘AA’ championships at Neepawa, Seine River was winless in the round robin, with two of the losses by a single run, to also miss the playoffs.

Baseball Manitoba provincials continue this weekend with the Midget ‘AAA’ championships at Morden. The Carillon Sultans will be one of nine teams competing. Also next weekend, Seine River will host the Pee Wee ‘AAA’ qualifying tournament at Ile des Chenes, which will include the Carillon Sultans regional AAA team. Five of the six teams at the tournament will advance to the Pee Wee ‘AAA’ proivncial championships the following weekend in Brandon.
