Pistons dominate Blues

The Steinbach Pistons have dominated all comers so far in this Manitoba Junior Hockey League pre-season. The Pistons won their fifth straight exhibition tilt Sunday night as they smacked the Winnipeg Blues 6-1 at the MTS Iceplex.

Steinbach has outscored their opponents by an eye-popping 27-7 in those five games.

Scoring twice in each period, the Pistons outshot the Blues 29-21 in Sunday’s game. Scoring for the Pistons were Bradley Schoonbaert, Hayden Goderis, Macknzie Graham, Luke Amsbough, Shannon McFadden and Mathieu Gomericic. Former SRSS Sabres star Scott Petkau chipped in with a pair of assists for the Pistons.

Pistons’ starter Roman Bengert stopped all 30 shots he face in his 30 minutes of work while Jeremy Wik stopped seven of eight, surrendering the only goal the Blues scored late in the second on the powerplay.

These same two teams will go at it again Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in Steinbach.The Pistons will wrap up their pre-season schedule Friday against the Selkirk Steelers in a Steelers home game to be played at 7:30 p.m. at Beausejour.
