Colin Baudry scored just eight seconds into overtime to give the Steinbach Pistons a 2-1 victory over the Selkirk Steelers in Manitoba Junior Hockey League pre-season action Friday night in Selkirk. The win improves Steinbach’s exhibition record to 3-2-1.

In the low scoring affair, Selkirk took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Soren Frederiksen just four minutes into the game. The game remained 1-0 until Dustin Loeppky finally knotted it for the Pistons midway through the third.

The Pistons outshot the Steelers 38-20 but Selkirk netminder Hayden Dola was true to the test as he stopped 36 of the 38 shots he faced. Steinbach goaltenders Nick Deery and Hunter Ploszay both played well for the Pistons in their split duties as they each manned the pipes for 30 minutes. Deery turned aside 11 of the 12 shots he faced while Ploszay stopped all eight in his stint.

The Pistons and the Steelers go at it again tonight at 7:30 p.m. in Steinbach. It will be the final pre-season game for the Pistons. Steinbach opens the MJHL regular season Sept. 19 at Winkler.
