The Grunthal Red Wings rolled over the Lorette Comets 7-1 Thursday night at Ile des Chenes to take a 2-0 lead in their Hanover Tache Junior Hockey League best of seven semi-final series. Grunthal won the opener 7-2 on Tuesday.

Ryan Wiebe and Brady Musey paced the Red Wings with two goals each while Eric Froese, Jared Hunter and Dustin Wiebe added singles. Kevin Holden scored Lorette’s lone goal late in the second as he beat Morgan Wall. Wall made 31 saves in the contest.

Game three in the series will be played Sunday at 7:00 p.m. at Grunthal. The other semi-final series, which has the Steinbach Huskies leading the Springfield Xtreme 1-0, will continue with game two Monday night at 8:00 p.m. at Oakbank.

Meanwhile, there are two games in the Carillon Senior Hockey League semi-finals tonight as Steinbach hosts the Red River Wild at 8:00 p.m. The Wild lead that series 2-0. And the Springfield 98s and Grunthal Red Wings will open their best of seven series tonight at 8:00 p.m. at Grunthal.
