The Niverville Nighthawks got a veteran boost to their line-up, adding 20-year-old forward Matteo Speranza via trade June 6.

Speranza was born in Langley, B.C., and has spent the past two seasons playing in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League.

In 54 games for the Notre Dame Hounds last season, Speranza scored 28 points in 54 games.

“(Speranza) has a couple season of junior hockey experience and plays a solid 200 foot game,” Nighthawks general manager Mike McAulay said.

“He has a a really good motor, gets on pucks and we think there’s is some offensive upside in his game. Happy to be able to acquire him.”

In return for Speranza, Niverville is sending a player development fee (PDF) back to Notre Dame.
