Bell MTS says cellular customers in the RM of Whitemouth can expect improved network service when a new tower is switched on next month.

Morgan Shipley, communications manager for Bell MTS, said the company has added an LTE-Advanced wireless site to the public safety radio tower just south of Whitemouth, at the intersection of Highway 44 and Tower Road.

The site will be activated next month, Shipley said, and deliver “faster data speeds, increased network capacity and new coverage in previously unserved areas.”

The company’s faster LTE-Advanced network previously didn’t extend east of Ste Rita or to areas southeast of Whitemouth along Highway 15, according to a network coverage map on the Bell MTS website.

The map will be updated once the new site is live, Shipley said.

Over the summer, Bell MTS also activated a new wireless site at Falcon Lake, and is working to enhance the existing network around West Hawk Lake, Shipley added.
