Looking for artists for K.R. Barkman Concerts in the Park

An artist call out has been issued for a Steinbach tradition, the K.R. Barkman Concerts in the Park.

The Steinbach Arts Council issued a press release calling participants for the 2024 free outdoor concert series that takes place May and June at the K.R. Barkman Park gazebo.

“Applications are open to bands, soloists, dancers, choirs, and artists of all kinds,” the release states. “If you’re looking to share your artistry, this is a great opportunity for you.”

Local musical and theatrical performers are invited to apply. Visual artists too can take part by showcasing their work, create on site and sell their merchandise.

The Steinbach Arts Council is once again partnering with the Barkman Concrete Foundation to continue the summer tradition.

Free to the public, the Steinbach Arts Council supplies the venue, pays the park rental and electricity cost and assists with a sound system and technician while also providing marketing and promotions.

Performing Arts Coordinator Tara Schellenberg said in the press release that there’s always a joy in having the community come together to share their love of music and art.

“The K.R. Barkman Park is a beautiful, welcoming space for us to come together and enjoy the talent we have in our region,” she said.

Concerts run on Tuesdays and Thursdays from May 23 to June 13.
