RCMP investigating fatal house fire in Richer

Steinbach RCMP are investigating a fatal house fire in Richer that killed one person and sent another to the hospital.
On Dec. 2, at about 8:30 p.m., police were called to a house fire on Dawson Road. When officers arrived the Richer fire department and EMS were already at the scene, with the fire department battling the blaze, according to police.
Officers learned there was a 78-year-old woman inside the house. Despite efforts of first responders, the woman was pronounced dead on scene.
A 14-year-old boy was able to escape the fire and was taken by STARS to hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation and minor injuries.
Steinbach RCMP continue to investigate.
