AMBER alert issued for abducted child

UPDATE: AMBER alert has now been cancelled. The abducted child was safely located in North Battleford at approximately 6:45 a.m. and is receiving medical attention at this time.

An AMBER Alert was issued in Manitoba early Monday morning, following the abduction of a 6-year-old Saskatchewan girl on Sunday afternoon.

At about 5 p.m. Sunday, a dark grey 2010 Mercedes GL 350 Blue Tec SUV with Saskatchewan license plate 897 HMX was stolen from in front of a strip mall in North Battleford.

6-year-old Emma O’Keeffe was secured in her car seat in the rear passenger seat of the vehicle when the vehicle was stolen.

She is described as 3’6″ tall and weighs 44 lbs. Her hair is brown in colour and is cut in a bob style to her jaw line.

She is autistic and does not speak, she also suffers from epilepsy and does not walk. She would not be able to exit a vehicle on her own

She was last seen wearing a navy blue long sleeve shirt, black jeans and pink socks. She did not have any shoes on.

She also requires medication every 12 hours. She requires this medication to be taken in a strict time frame. Police said in release that missing a dose could lead to extreme medical distress.

Investigators would also like to alert gas stations across Manitoba to be on the look out for the stolen SUV. The vehicle will require gas and may attempt to stop and fill up at some point.

Manitobans are asked to immediately report any possible sightings of the child or the vehicle by calling 911 or their local emergency number.
