The Bethesda Foundation is pledging an additional $1.3 million for the Rest Haven personal care home expansion project.

The 60-bed facility is increasing in size to 143 beds.

The foundation noted in a release on Tuesday that $4 million had already been pledged by the foundation, but that “it was now evident that an additional $1.3 million would be needed from the community for the expansion to proceed.”

“This project is simply too important, and urgently needed, to delay any further. In order to move the project ahead as quickly as possible, Bethesda Foundation is pleased to step up and has pledged to raise the additional $1.3 mill required,” said board chair Garth Reimer in the release.

“The total pledge of $5.3 million is by far the largest in the foundation’s history, and is only possible because of the many generous donors in this community. A huge thanks to all of those generous donors for repeatedly stepping up with us, to continue enhancing healthcare close to home.”
