Boy hurt in collision

Emergency crews work to transport a boy to an ambulance after he was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Fourth Street and Barkman Avenue in Steinbach.

Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Fourth Street and Barkman Avenue in Steinbach on Wednesday afternoon around 4:15 p.m. after a collision was reported between a vehicle and a bicycle.

Assistant fire chief Mike Penner said a boy on a bicycle was crossing Barkman Avenue but did not yield for the oncoming vehicle.

Penner said the youth was conscious but had possibly suffered some broken bones in the collision.
