Child dies in Tache accident

A four-year-old boy died in hospital after an incident at a residence in the RM of Tache, about six kilometres northwest of Lorette, on Saturday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to the scene around 3:35 p.m.

Police said in a release on Sunday that a 63-year-old female, from the RM of Tache, was operating an acreage tractor and pulling a utility trailer loaded with a water tank. The boy was riding in the trailer when it came loose and rolled back into the ditch.

The child was rushed to hospital but later pronounced deceased, police said.

St Pierre RCMP, an RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner continue to investigate.
