A renowned Winnipeg choir will travel to Steinbach to put on a performance next week, and two choirs of local youth will get the opportunity to join them on stage.

The Winnipeg Singers, a professional choral group that is currently performing in its 45th concert season, will perform a show entitled Accent on Youth: Young Canadian Talents at the Mennonite Heritage Village on May 4.

With the show focused on youth, the Winnipeg Singers have invited two local choirs made up of students to perform, as both the SRSS Chamber Choir and the Crystal Springs School Choir will join them for the performance.

SRSS choral director Kristel Peters said the high school choir will perform on their own and collaborate with the Winnipeg Singers.

“It will be a great opportunity for our students to stand among them and sing with them, and also for them to sit in the audience and see and hear them perform and be inspired by them,” Peters said.

She said with the focus on youth, the show will feature accessible and light-hearted performances and music.

The Winnipeg Singers will present Accent on Youth: Young Canadian Talents at the Mennonite Heritage Village on May 4 starting at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for students and the show is free for children under the age of six.

Tickets are available at the door, by calling 204-944-9100, or through Kristel Peters by emailing her at kepeters@hsd.ca.
