Crash claims life of six-year-old boy

A six-year-old boy, hurt in a collision on May 31 near Kleefeld, died on Monday as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Highway 52 and Provincial Road 216, north of Kleefeld.

A vehicle driven by a 23-year-old female from the RM of Hanover, was travelling eastbound on Highway 52 when she collided with a westbound vehicle, being driven by a 26-year-old female from St Malo, who was attempting to make a left-hand turn onto PR 216.

The 26-year-old was transported to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries and her six-year-old son, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The 23-year-old female driver was transported to hospital with minor injuries.

Police said in a release on Tuesday that the collision remains under investigation.
