A crash on Highway 52 west of Mitchell on Friday morning sent two people to hospital with what RCMP are calling serious injuries.

An RCMP spokesperson said the collision was reported to police around 10:15 a.m. Friday morning.

Police said a gravel truck was driving westbound on Highway 52, when it came to a stop on the highway as it waited to make a left hand turn while eastbound traffic passed by.

Another vehicle also stopped behind the gravel truck, but was then struck by a third westbound vehicle and forced into the highway’s eastbound lane where a collision with an oncoming vehicle occurred. Both drivers were taken to hospital in serious condition.

Steinbach RCMP continue to investigate.
