An event in Manitoba this weekend will see some local farms and agriculture sites open their doors to the public to show them a little bit about what they do and how they do it.

A total of 43 host farms will allow residents to visit their sites this Sunday, during the annual Manitoba Open Farm Day, which is hosted by The Manitoba Association of Agricultural Societies (MAAS).

MAAS said on their website the purpose of the event is to allow Manitobans to “come out and meet your rural neighbours and learn about their farms, their products, and the food they produce for you.”

A few locations in the Southeast will be taking part in Manitoba Open Farm Day this Sunday including Niverville based dairy farm Trehane Holsteins, Stuartburn-based Weston Family Tallgrass Prairie Interpretive Centre, Moonshadow Holsteins in St Labre and SeSab Ranch on Arnaud.

Local producers will be on site to discuss the relationship and the importance of both grazing and conservation, and how both can be of benefit to the other.

The Mennonite Heritage Village in Steinbach will also take part on Sunday as they will offer free admission from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and offer horse drawn wagon rides, a windmill demonstration and heritage field equipment guessing games.
