Flaming fuel tanker closes Trans-Canada

Firefighters were on the scene of a fuel tanker fire near Richer on Wednesday morning.


Both eastbound and westbound lanes of the Trans-Canada Highway were closed on Wednesday morning after fuel tanker caught fire.

Steinbach RCMP responded to the report of the fire in the eastbound lanes around 8:50 a.m.

Eastbound traffic is closed between Road 48E and 54E and being detoured. Westbound traffic was closed but is now open.

Police said there is no word yet on the cause of the fire and no injuries have been reported. The truck was not involved in a collision with any other vehicle.
