Flooding on the Red River this spring is now expected to be higher than 2009 with normal or average weather conditions, according to the latest update from province’s hydrologic forecast centre.

The new forecast is the result of heavy snowfalls in the northern United States and across the Red River Valley.

With favourable weather, the forecast at this stage indicates the Red River would rise to 2011 flood levels.

A fully updated flood outlook will be presented in the coming days, the province said in a release yesterday afternoon.
