Man found dead on Trans-Canada

Police are seeking the public’s assistance after a man was found dead on the Trans-Canada Highway early Saturday morning.

Around 2:50 a.m. Steinbach RCMP responded to a report of a man lying in the eastbound lane of the Trans-Canada, about six kilometres east of Richer.

The 47-year-old man, who was a Winnipeg resident, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said in a release on Tuesday afternoon that it is unclear how the man died.

Anyone who may have been in the area that morning or may have seen a man walking near or on the highway is asked to contact Steinbach RCMP at 204-326-4452, or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477, submit a secure tip online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com or text “TIPMAN” plus a message to CRIMES (274637).
