Man injured in crash near Giroux

An adult male was airlifted by STARS air ambulance to Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg after his vehicle collided with a semi truck hauling a flatbed trailer on Provincial Road 311 on Thursday night.

Steinbach deputy fire chief Ron Chausse explained at the scene of the collision, about half a mile west of Giroux, that the man was extricated from the vehicle and transported in critical condition.

Chausse said the cause of the crash remains under investigation and that an RCMP traffic analyst was enroute.

The driver of semi was uninjured.

Chausse expected that PR 311 would remain closed at the scene of the crash for two to three hours.
