Outdoor concert series amps up

A kaleidoscopic array of musical genres will emanate from the gazebo in K.R. Barkman Park beginning tomorrow. 

Steinbach Arts Council’s free outdoor concert series, Concerts in the Park, gets underway Friday with a double billing. Indie rock artist Caity Rose will perform at 6:30 p.m., followed by female vocal quartet Above Bass at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, June 8, audiences can catch country artist Jonathon James at 6:30 p.m. Darryl Marsch Band will take to the stage at 7:15 p.m. to play a blend of country and pop-rock classics.

Country-rockers JakeBrakes will appear onstage at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 9.

The concert series will break the following weekend for Summer in the City, and resume on Thursday, June 20. Bothwell School’s Grade 7/8 choir will perform at 6:30 p.m., followed by folksinger Shannon Shewchuk at 7:15 p.m.

Friday, June 21 will feature roots act The Janzen Boys at 6:30 p.m., and P Noise, a rock-tinged reggae outfit, an hour later.

LMNK, a Christian pop solo artist, will perform Sunday, June 23 at 6:30 p.m., ahead of indie rocker David Graham at 7 p.m.

Radio personality Corny Rempel’s alter-ego, Elvis Presley, will close out the concert series on Thursday, June 27 with a set beginning at 6:30 p.m.
