Plenty to do in southeastern Manitoba this weekend

There will be plenty for families to do this weekend in southeastern Manitoba, as five communities have special events that are raring to go. 

 

Richer Rough Stock Rodeo

The Richer Rough Stock Rodeo takes place Aug. 11 to 13, and features rodeo competitions, family activities, and musical entertainment.

The annual event will see the Rodeo Cowboy Social take place Friday evening, with a mainstage concert and dance happening on Saturday evening.

Those who come to the rodeo can also expect a family fun zone, petting zoo, pony rides, and raffles.

Landmark Friendship Festival

The Landmark Friendship Festival will bring some family-friendly and unique events to the area Aug 11-13.

The annual festival will begin Friday with Redneck Nite, which will feature lawnmower races, along with a hot dog roast and live musical entertainment.

On Saturday, the festival will feature a pancake breakfast, parade, folklorama performances, and a firework show at night.

Kleefeld Honey Festival

The annual Kleefeld Honey Festival will kick off on Friday with movies in the park starting at 8 p.m. A canteen stocked with snacks will open at 7 p.m.

Saturday will begin with a free pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., followed by the annual Kleefeld Honey Festival parade at 10 a.m.

The fifth annual Chili Cook-off will also take place on Saturday, and kids can play all day in the Playland of Milk & Honey, which will features a carnival, bouncy castles, toys, and crafts.

Saturday evening at the festival will feature concerts and a firework show.

Sprague Fest 

This year’s theme is “Back to the 80’s,” and sharp-dressed attendees can begin their Saturday by enjoying a firefighter pancake breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Registration for a Canada 150 parade follows, beginning at 10 a.m.

Free children’s activities run from from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. An all-day basketball tournament will be followed by a lip sync battle and dance that commences at 8 p.m. Concession stand items and auction tickets are available all day.

Carrick Days 

Carrick Days takes place Aug. 12 and 13, beginning with a parade at 12 p.m. on Saturday. A horseshoes tournament, children’s games, dunk tank, and more will follow over the course of the day, wrapping up with a firework show at 10 p.m..

A 10 a.m. breakfast and Carrick’s Got Talent contest will fill up Sunday.
