Police seek fraud suspect

Oakbank RCMP are seeking a 42-year-old Winnipeg man after a series of mail thefts, thefts from motor vehicles, and break and enters that have been linked to a series of identity frauds and forged documents.

Police allege the man attended several financial institutions in Winnipeg and opened several bank accounts under a false name, using forged government identification.

Emery Peter Smith is charged with 17 offences related to fraud, theft, and court breaches.

He described as, 5’7”, 141 lbs, with black hair and brown eyes. Police said he may be in the Winnipeg area.
