Steinbach RCMP issued a warning on Tuesday night after a nine-year-old girl was approached by an unknown male on Maplewood Street in Steinbach who attempted to persuade her to come with him.

Police believe that around 4 p.m. the man possibly followed the girl home from Elmdale School, then stood in the yard of her residence with a red camera. While there he tried speaking with the girl and asked her to unlock the doors and come with him.

The man is described to be in his 40s or 50s, with a stocky build and grey/brown hair. He was wearing a red t-shirt, jeans and black shoes. He was driving a older model brown or tan car with four doors.

Anyone with information that could identify and locate this individual is asked to contact Steinbach RCMP at (204) 326-4452 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or or text TIPMAN plus a message to Crimes (274637).
