Search warrant carried out in La Broquerie

Several firearm-related charges are pending against a 51-year-old La Broquerie man after a search warrant was executed at a residence in that community early Wednesday morning.

In a statement released Thursday, Steinbach RCMP Staff Sgt. Harold Laninga said officers executed a “high risk” search warrant during the early hours of June 6 on Gauthier Street, with assistance from an RCMP “D” Division emergency response team and canine unit.

Three people were taken into custody as a result. The 51-year-old man is expected to face two counts of possession of a prohibited weapon, unsafe storage of a firearm, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

A 22-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman taken into custody were later released without charge.
