Several firearm-related charges are pending against a 51-year-old La Broquerie man after a search warrant was executed at a residence in that community early Wednesday morning.
In a statement released Thursday, Steinbach RCMP Staff Sgt. Harold Laninga said officers executed a "high risk" search warrant during the early hours of June 6 on Gauthier Street, with assistance from an RCMP "D" Division emergency response team and canine unit.
Three people were taken into custody as a result. The 51-year-old man is expected to face two counts of possession of a prohibited weapon, unsafe storage of a firearm, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
A 22-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman taken into custody were later released without charge.
An increase in the theft of vehicles, quads and ATV, as well as thefts from inside vehicles has been highlighted by Steinbach RCMP, who have turned to the public for support in preventing the crimes.
