Seine River School Division held an assembly in Lorette on Tuesday to honour students who made outstanding contributions to their school and community through the 2019 Student Citizenship Awards.

Esther Akadiri, a Grade 2 student at La Salle School, received the early years award. Akadiri was also selected to represent the division at the provincial citizenship awards next spring.

Grade 5 student Talia Pelletier of Lorette Immersion captured the middle years citizenship award.

In the high school category, Rorie Tarr, a Grade 12 student at Lorette Collegiate, and Tamara Sturch, a Grade 11 student at St Norbert Collegiate, shared the award.

Winners received a cash prize split equally between them, their school, and a charity of their choice. Their name will also be added to a plaque at the division office in Lorette.

The division also offers a team category won by Jenny McIvor’s Grade 6 class at Arborgate School in La Broquerie. The class will also be submitted to the provincial awards.

Students can be nominated by a teacher, coach, or community member. A three-member panel of trustees determines which nominees receive awards.
