Ste Anne ER slated for partial closure

Southern Health said in a release on Thursday morning that due to a temporary physician shortage, Ste Anne hospital’s emergency department will be closed daily from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. for several weeks at least.

The changes take effect tomorrow, Oct. 19.

The emergency room will remain open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The partial closure and EMS redirection will be in effect for at least six weeks, after which the matter will be reassessed, the health authority said.

The changes do not affect acute care or obstetrical services at the hospital. Medical clinic services continue to be available as well.
