A 26-year-old Steinbach woman faces charges after a collision on Winnipeg’s Perimeter Highway.
Saturday afternoon around 4 p.m. police received a report of an erratic driver on the highway near Dugald Road. As officers responded, a second report was received that the driver had hit another vehicle.
Police said in a release on Sunday morning that preliminary investigation has shown the Steinbach resident was driving in a dangerous manner on Wenzel Street and continued onto the perimeter. After she failed to stop at a red light at the Dugald Road intersection, the woman collided with another vehicle.
The driver of the other vehicle, a 44-year-old woman from Beausejour, was transported to hospital in critical condition. The Steinbach woman was also transported with serious injuries.
Police said impaired driving is believed to be a factor in the crash.
