Steinbach permits exceed $56 million

City council welcomed the final building figures of 2018 at its first meeting of the new year last Tuesday night.

The permits valued at $5.7 million issued in the month of December represented about 10 percent of the year’s final total of $56.9 million.

A $4.1 million project by Southern Health to construct a new building at the hospital accounted for the majority of the month’s gains.

Ten housing units were also added in the month of December, bringing last year’s total to 158 units.
