Steinbach firefighters were called the west side of the city late Saturday night around 11:30 p.m., after a house fire on Whitby Crecent.

Steinbach fire chief Kel Toews said the house was fully involved when crews arrived with flames coming from the roof and windows.

One resident was at home at the time fire and taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Toews said fire crews had no major challenges in getting the blaze under control, but anticipated the extent of the fire will still mean the home is a total loss.

Toews said the Office of the Fire Commissioner was on scene and investigating, as fire crews departed early Sunday morning.
