Two children were unharmed and returned home safely on Thursday afternoon after encountering a male near a Steinbach apartment complex.

Now Steinbach RCMP would like to identify the unknown male involved in the incident.

Police said in a release on Sunday afternoon two children, a seven-year-old female and six-year-old male, were approached by an unidentified male around 3:55 p.m. on Thursday in the parking lot of an apartment complex at 137 Reimer Avenue.

Police said when the children yelled for help, the male ran away on foot in a westbound direction.

He is described as having tan coloured skin and was wearing a dark blue or black coloured jacket or sweater, yellow or brown coloured pants, and a black balaclava.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Steinbach RCMP at (204) 326-4452 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or or text "TIPMAN" plus a message to Crimes (274637).
