ALBERT P. BRANDT
June 8, 1923-Apr. 19, 2019
Albert P. Brandt passed away peacefully on Friday, Apr. 19, 2019 at Bethesda Regional Health Centre, Steinbach, MB.
He was born to John U. Brandt and Katherina Brandt and lived in Manitoba all his life.
As a young boy Dad worked hard on his father’s farm and later at several businesses, including Penner Electric in Steinbach. He established his own business, Bert’s Refrigeration, in the mid-sixties. He advertised it as open 24 hours, 7 days a week. He was well known in the community and told great stories about his adventures in his daily life. He had the ability to form positive relationships with people whereby the individual would always feel special. Dad always loved a good story or joke -- thus his interest in the "Reader’s Digest".
He will be missed by his children, Leona (Joe) Moder, Minna, Harvey, David (Pat), Maria (Ian) McTaggart, Joanne (Rick) Fontaine, Brian Friesen (Birgit), 20 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Albert is also survived by three sisters.
He was predeceased by his first wife Sara Reimer in 2008, his second wife Tina Spencer in 2016, one great-grandchild, and one son-in-law, along with one brother and two sisters.
Thank you to all the home care staff, Dr Reimer and the palliative care team, and nursing staff at Bethesda Regional Health Centre who cared for our father.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, Apr. 28 at 3 p.m. at Ridgewood EMC, RM of Ste Anne, MB with interment to follow at the church cemetery. Viewing will take place one hour prior to the service.
If friends desire, donations may be made to Mennonite Central Committee or Canadian Food Grains Bank.
