Alma Bennett

Surrounded by loved ones, Alma Bennett, age 87 years, of Stony Plain, AB ended her battle with cancer on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2018 at the Extendicare Michener Hill in Red Deer, AB.

Alma was born Aug. 12, 1931 in Giroux, MB. On July 3, 1951, Alma married Raymond Bennett and the couple made their home in Balmertown, ON. They moved across Canada twice in their married life, finally settling just outside Edmonton in the small community of Stony Plain in 1973.

She is survived by her loving husband Ray, two daughters and one son: Bryan (Dorothy) Bennett of Red Deer, AB, grandson Joel (Jasmine) Bennett and their children Karlee and Myla, and granddaughter Kara (Mason) Graham and their children Atticus and Amelia; Crystal (Arthur) Thompson of Caroline, AB, grandson Josh Sproule, granddaughter Erin Sproule (Lawrence) McLeod and their child Vera, grandson Mark (Rebecca) Sproule and their children Leah and Emilee, son Quintin Thompson and his children Jacob, Isaac and Anna, and granddaughter Heidi (Mark) Massicotte and their children Ava and Selam; brother Harvey Hiebert and nephew Jason (Michelle) Hiebert and families; nieces Elaine Bange Enlow and family; Wendy McCarter and families; Jennifer (Roger) Schang and families; and Doreen (Paul) Avery and families.

Alma was predeceased by her parents John and Aganetha (Stoesz) Hiebert, sister-in-law Marilyn Hiebert, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Kay and Derek Bennett, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Doris (Elmer) Bange and niece Janice Hiebert.

Alma is in the arms of Jesus and we have assurance that we will see her again. We grieve, but not in the same way as those who have no hope. Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal.

Funeral service for Alma Bennett will be held Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018 at the Innisfail Baptist Church in Innisfail, AB. Memorial donations to the Alberta Cancer Foundation in her memory.
