JACOB ISAAK
On Wednesday, April 11, 2018 Jacob (Jake) Isaak of Niverville passed away peacefully during his sleep at the age of 90, at the Kildonan Personal Care Center in Winnipeg Manitoba.
His is survived by his children Ken (Elaine) Isaak, Velma (Ian) Doerksen, Dorothy (Paul) Born, G. Paul (Sylvia) Isaak, Phil (Kim) Isaak, 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grand-children, brother Peter (Hildegard) Isaak, sister Agatha Dueck, and brother-in-law John Froese, and many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his wife Irene (Dick) Isaak, infant son Peter, siblings Abe Isaak, Mary Loewen, Frieda Toews, John Isaak, Frank Isaak, Henry Isaak and their spouses, as well as sister Katherine Froese and brother-in-law Abe Dueck.
Jacob was born to Franz and Maria Isaak of Niverville, Manitoba in 1927. He attended Mennonite Collegiate Institute in Gretna, MB and Mennonite Brethren Collegiate Institute in Winnipeg where he was a member of the first graduating class. While in MBCI he met Irene Dick. They were married on October 21, 1950. He farmed in the Niverville area and served southern MB with his electrical business "Jake’s Electric."
He found a multitude of ways to live a life serving others. His strong faith in God was the foundation for the love and service he extended to his family, church and community. His handprint of kindness and service is marked in locations all across the globe. Dear to his heart were Youth For Christ ministry; Gideons; Black Forest Academy in Germany; Menedek Orphanage in Bodrog, Hungary; launching CHVN – the first Christian radio station in Manitoba; street ministry and building projects in Mexico and Costa Rica; Mennonite Disaster Services with practical disaster relief throughout Canada and US; community volunteerism with welcome visits for newcomers; participation on various community boards, particularly Niverville Credit Union; cancer/heart/stroke fund raising; and untold ways he found to personally bless individuals in his life. His loving care of mom is his most profound example of servanthood.
Following a private family interment at Hespler Cemetery, a celebration of Jacob’s life was held Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Fourth Avenue Bible Church, Niverville.
Should friends so desire, donations in his memory may be made to Niverville Youth for Christ Center.
