A 7-4 victory over the Grunthal Red Wings Wednesday night in Ste. Anne has given the Ste. Anne Aces a 3-1 lead in the Carillon Senior Hockey League championship series.

The Aces are the two-time defending champions. Ste. Anne can win their third straight title with a win ini game five tonight (Thursday) in Grunthal. Puck drop is 8:00 p.m.

After Grunthal won the opening game of the series, the Aces have stormed back with three straight decisive victories.

Much like Ste. Anne’s game three victory Sunday at Grunthal where they scored four times on Grunthal’s Edward Albert just nine minutes in, chasing him from the game, as the Aces took a 6-0 after the first.

Last night the Aces again beat Albert four times in the first and the Aces were on cruise control the rest of the night. Ste. Anne took a 5-2 advantage into the third.

Keith Grondin had two goals and an assist to lead the Aces while Steph Pattyn and Miguel Rondeau each had a goal and two helpers. Russell Trudeau, Jon Mitchell and Justin Tremblay added singles. Jason Frykas netted a pair for the Grunthal while Ryan Frykas and Kevin Vandewater added singles.

Should Grunthal extend the series tonight, game five will be played back in Ste. Anne Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
