After losing the series opener 5-3 to the Grunthal Red Wings, the Ste. Anne Aces stormed back on the weekend to win the next two games by a combined scored of 13-4 to take a 2-1 lead in the Carillon Senior Hockey League finals.

Grunthal finished two points ahead of the two-time defending champion Aces atop the final CSHL standings this season.

The Aces were 6-1 winners at home on Friday and then won 7-3 Sunday at Grunthal.

In Friday’s game, Keith Grondin had two goals and an assist to pace the Aces, while Guy St. Vincent stopped 30 of the 31 shots he faced for the winners.

Sunday at Grunthal, the Aces bolted out of the gate skating to a 6-0 first period lead and coasted to a 7-3 triumph. Dylan Kelly led the Aces with a goal and two assists as Ste. Anne received goals from seven different players.

St. Vincent was again strong in the Ste. Anne net making 40 saves on the night.

Game four in the best of seven series will be played Wednesday night at Ste. Anne with game five back in Grunthal on Thursday. Both games get underway at 8:00 p.m.
