Ste. Anne, first place finishers and three time defending champions, had their hands full with the fourth place Habs through the first two periods in the opener of the best of seven semi-finals.

The Aces skated to period leads of 1-0 and 4-2 in the entertaining affair, but the Habs narrowed the lead to 4-3 early in the third, but the Aces answered back with three straight goals to put the game away.

Keith Grondin and Kyle Isenor led the Aces each with a goal and two assists. Rounding out the Ste. Anne scoring were Yvan Pattyn, Justin Tremblay, Vaughn Dupre, Shanan McFadden and Pat Normandeau while Kirklan Lycar picked up three assists on the night.

Responding for the Habs were Tanner Harms with a pair, and singles from Dustin Loeppky and Rejean Carriere. Braden Purtill set up three of the four La Broquerie goals.

The Habs outshot the Aces 44-35.

Game two in the series will be played Feb. 20 at Ste. Anne.
