When it comes to winning championships, the Ste. Anne Aces are a machine.

Following on the heels of their fourth straight Carillon Senior Hockey League title a couple of weeks ago, the Aces successfully defended their Hockey Manitoba Senior 'A' crown this weekend in Winnipeg as they have now won six major championships in the last four years.

The provincial Senior 'A' championship is a competition between the winners of the four senior hockey leagues in the province and in Saturday's finale at Bell MTS Iceplex, the Aces downed the Tiger Hills Hockey League champion Boissevain Border Kings 7-4.

The Aces were led in another dominating performance from Brenden Walker. Tied 4-4 after two periods, the Aces scored three unanswered goals in the third to pull out the victory in front of a large collection of Aces' fans at the Iceplex.

Walker had three goals and an assist in Saturday's championship game, including two powerplay goals in the third period.

Ste. Anne led 4-2 afer the opening 20 minutes.

Keith Grondin also had a four-point outing for the Aces on a goal and three assists while Steph Pattyn had a goal and two helpers. Pat Normandeau and Kyle Isenor had the other Ste. Anne markers.

The Aces dominated the Border Kings for the most part, outshooting them by a two-to-one margin (48-24) as Guy St. Vincent picked up the win in net for the Aces.

The Border Kings beat the Aces 5-2 Friday night in the final round robin game although the Aces had a depleted line-up as they had already earned a berth in Saturday's final.

Brenden Walker had an incredible nine goals and two assists in the three games he played in the provincials, including four goals in the opening game of the tournament in Ste. Anne's 6-2 victory over a suprisingly weak SEMHL champion Morden Redskins.  The Ste. Anne sniper also had two goals and an assist in Ste. Anne's 6-4 victory over the Miniota Elkhorn C-Hawks last weekend.
