The La Broquerie A’s got the job done in impressive fashion in winning the Provincial Bantam ‘AA’ Baseball Championships on their home diamonds last month, and now they have taken the show on the road as they are representing Manitoba at the Western Canadian Bantam ‘AA’ Championship at Kamloops, B.C.

La Broquerie is one of five teams in the tourney and they will open play early Friday morning, at 8:00 a.m. to be exact, as they tangle with the Tri City Indians.

Each team will play five round robin games with the top teams squaring off in the final Sunday at 4:45 p.m.

The A’s will play twice on opening day on Friday as they also face the Provost Pilots at 4:15 p.m. On Saturday the A’s go up against the Lloydminster Twins at 2:00 p.m. and then will complete their round robin schedule Sunday at 11:15 a.m. vs. the Burnaby Braves, all times Pacific.

Assistant coach Mitch Tetrault says since won the provincial title a few weeks ago they have been practicing a couple of times a week as well as playing a pair of exhibition games against a Carillon Bantam ‘A’ team.

Tetrault, who is coaching the team along with head coach Mitch Nadeau, says they expect the attributes that carried them to the provincial title, and that is power and solid defence, to again be something they can count on at westerns.

The A’s have picked up two players for the western championships at Kamloops, including Drayden Kurbatoff from Grunthal and Davis Fenske from Stonewall.

Rounding out the La Broquerie A’s roster are: Mason Hartung, Carson Tufford, Rialey Lawless, Darius Morrow, Dustin Broesky, Keyan Grimard, Zac Tetrault, Meech Nadeau, Eric Mateychuk, Justin Gudmundson, Dawson Tanner and Gabe Ross.
