Friesen, an all-round athlete, has been a standout this season for the Green Valley Pirates track and field team.

“Vanessa is athletically gifted, but her drive and determination are what allow her to build on her gifts and to standout among other athletes,” says her coach Justin Hart.

“Her drive and determination has allowed her to lead her volleyball teams to a junior varsity provincial bronze medal, a varsity silver medal and this a year a varsity provincial volleyball championship. In addition to this, she is a top 10 sprinter and high jumper in the province.

Soon to graduate, she is also strong academically with an 85% average, while also participating in volleyball, soccer, basketball, fastpitch and ultimate.

Friesen is competing this week at the Provincial High School Track and Field Championships at the University of Manitoba.
