Guimond hat trick paces Warriors

Robert Guimond scored three goals to power the St. Malo Warriors to a 5-2 victory over the Arborg Ice Dawgs in Capital Regional Junior Hockey League play Thursday night at Arborg.

Guimond’s trio of goals came in impressive fashion as he scored a natural hat trick to open the game. His first goal came on the powerplay eight minutes in. He made it 2-0 scoring his second with 3:27 remaining in the opening frame and then completed his hat trick just 23 seconds later.

Logan Bueckert made it 4-0 St. Malo by the end of the first period. Tyrel Beuckert added a fifth St. Malo goal in the second, together with his two earlier assists.

Hunter Neilson made 41 saves in net for the Warriors.

Guimond now leads the league with eight goals in six games while Tyrel Bueckert is second in scoring with 12 points.

St. Malo, with a record of 5-2, moves into a first place tie with the Lundar Falcons, each with 12 points on the season according the league’s method of accruing points.

These two front runners will face off next weekend, Nov. 10 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Malo.
