The SRSS  JV Sabres, in their home opener Wednesday in Steinbach, rolled to a 31-21 victory over the Sisler Spartans. The Sabres are now 2-0 in their inaugural season in the Winnipeg Junior Varsity High School Football League.

SRSS, who led 17-7 at the half, never trailed in the game in another strong effort by the first-year Sabres.

The two teams traded touchdowns in the first quarter, with the Sabres striking first on a long run play by Avery Penner. The Sabres built up the 10-point lead in the second on a 25-yard field goal and a 48-yard touchdown strike from Austin Dueck to Teg Peters.
