The La Broquerie A’s captured the Western Canadian Bantam ‘AA’ Baseball Championship Sunday at Kamloops, B.C.,  with a decisive 7-0 victory over the Tri City Indians.

The A’s, who won the Manitoba championship at the provincials they hosted last month at La Broquerie, posted a 3-1 round robin record at Kamloops to advance to the final. They won their first three games of the tournament, opening on Friday morning with a 5-2 victory over those same Tri City Indians.

La Broquerie then kept it going as they defeated the Provost Pilots 11-7 and then trounced the Lloydminster Twins 12-1. That quick 3-0 start put them straight them into the final. Although they did have one more round robin game on Sunday, a 2-1 loss to the Burnaby Braves, the A’s had already qualified for the championship game.

Meanwhile, Burnaby and Tri City played a tiebreaker to determine who would meet La Broquerie in the final.

Another Carillon team, represented by Seine River, was also in Kamloops on the weekend competing in the Western Canadian Pee Wee ‘AAA’ Championships. Seine River finished with a 1-4 record at the eight-team tourney and failed to make the playoffs. Abbotsford claimed that Western Canadian title.
