The Steinbach Pistons, continuing their tune-up for the upcoming Manitoba Junior Hockey League season, swept a pair of pre-season games over the Winkler Flyers over the weekend.

Winning 6-1 on home ice Friday, the Pistons completed the sweep with a 6-4 triumph Saturday night at Winkler.

Leading the way for the Pistons in Saturday’s tilt were Carter Loney, Troy Beauchemin and Marcel Berube, each with two goals on the night.

The Pistons were dominant on home ice Friday night outshooting the Flyers 43-15 in the 6-1 romp. Carter Bateman, Landon Roberts, Troy Beauchemin, Declan Graham, Easton Bennett and Wyatt Andres were the Steinbach goal scorers.

Matt Lenz and Danton Belluk split the goaltending duties for the Pistons this weekend, playing 30 minutes in each game.

The Pistons, now 3-0 in pre-season games, will take on the Winnipeg Blues in another exhibition tilt Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at Bell MTS Iceplex.

Steinbach will play two more pre-season games next weekend in a home-and-home series with the Selkirk Steelers, beginning Friday night in Steinbach.

The Pistons, the reigning MJHL and ANAVET Cup champions, will open their MJHL regular season at home on Sept. 21, as they entertain the Waywayseecappo Wolverines.
