Seemingly firing on all cylinders, the Steinbach Pistons blanked the Selkirk Steelers 5-0 Saturday night in Steinbach in their final pre-season game.

The Pistons were 4-1 in five exhibition games this month, with their only loss coming Friday night at Selkirk as the Steelers were 4-2 winners.

Last night in Steinbach, the Pistons outscored the Steelers 3-0 in the first and outshot them by an astounding 30-8 margin in the opening 20, and the rout was on.

The Pistons added two more goals in the second and the Pistons outshot the Steelers 59-21 in the contest as Matt Radomsky turned aside all 21 shots he faced to post the shutout.

Bradley Schoonbaert paced the Pistons with two goals and an assist while Drew Worrad had a goal and two helpers. Drew Anderson and Braden Purtill rounded out the Steinbach scoring.

It was Anderson and Purtill that scored the Steinbach goals in the Pistons’ 4-2 loss Friday at Selkirk as the Steelers outshot the Pistons 52-36 in the contest. Matthew Thiessen had a strong game in a losing cause for the Pistons as he stopped 48 of the 52 shots he faced.

The Pistons are expected to go with largely the same line-up when they open the Manitoba Junior Hockey League regular season Friday night at home against these same Selkirk Steelers. Game time at the T.G.  Centre in the season opener will be 7:30 p.m.
