The Steinbach Pistons gained three of a possible four points from a weekend series with the OCN Blizzard at OCN.

Steinbach won the opener 4-1 on Friday night and the Blizzard came back with a big 2-1 overtime triumph over the Pistons on Saturday.

It was a huge victory for the last place Blizzard, as it was it their first triumph of the campaign after opening the season with eight straight losses.

Nolan Dawson scored the winner for the Blizzard 1:39 into OT.

Both regulation time goals came shorthanded as Evan Herman scored for the Blizzard in the first and Boedey Vaeth tied it for the Pistons in the second.

Both goalies were outstanding in the game as the Pistons outshot the Blizzard 44-36. Noah Giesbrecht stopped 43 of the 44 shots he faced in net for the Blizzard while Matt Lenz turned aside 34 shots in his second start for the Pistons.

On Friday, the Pistons received goals from four different players in a 4-1 Steinbach win. Finding the mark for the Pistons were Troy Beauchemin, Tristan Culleton, Brendan Martin and Brady Tatro, who also had an assist. Tatro is now fourth in league scoring with 13 points in 10 games.

Matthew Radomsky picked up the win in net for the Pistons, making 20 saves, as the Pistons outshot the Blizzard 42-21.

With the three points realized in the weekend series at OCN, the Pistons improved to 6-3-1 on the season, fourth place in the MJHL standings, but just two points back of leading Waywayseecappo.

The Pistons will finish off their three-game weekend road trip today at Swan River as they face the Swan Valley Stampeders (6-2-1) at 6:00 p.m.
